The main features of the upgrade are the RAW (Light) compression method and Canon Log 3 profile which allows enhancing the dynamic range (as claimed by Canon). The new firmware (1.3.0) was announced a few days ago, focuses on adding more options for filmmakers. Canon EOS R5 and EOS 1D X Mark III Canon Firmware Version 1.3.0: More options for filmmakers The RAW Light is implemented on the Canon EOS R5 and EOS 1D X Mark III and can reduce the file size by more than 30% compared to the original RAW. The UI is stunning and responsive, the capabilities will pass up both Android and Apple, and they treat their developers well, so the apps will come.Canon has introduced a new compression method defined as RAW Light on its new firmware update (1.3.0). nobody wants to hear it, but Microsoft is way ahead of the pack with those two platforms. Sadly, I will probably be dropping Android in favor of Windows 8 tablets and the Windows Phone by this time next year. I just picked up an unpowered usb hub, so I will have to give that a go with the Xoom. That would basically allow me to leave my laptop at home.

I get the impression that The Photographer's Ephemeris might be close to release on Android. I will be interested in hearing updates from you as to how that works. I am a Xoom user and have been contemplating doing what you describe. :lolĪlthough I don't use a card reader (plug in directly from camera) I have been told that it does read from a card reader by others testing the app. Need/Want: More time for photography (And some talent would be nice. Underwater: S95 + WP-DC38 + dual dive lights | Olympus OM-D E-M5 (await housing) I realize no one may know the answer yet, since Transformer is apparently hard to find in the US (plenty in Canada from what I can see).

However, I need the tablet to be able to copy the CR2 files onto the portable harddrive (like WD Passport).Ĭan the file system of Android 3.0/3.1 even see the CR2 files if I plug my CF card into a USB cardreader? (Not able to open/view them is fine, as long as it can copy them onto the portable harddrive - attached via another USB.) While I am glad to hear about CR2 and RawDroid, I don't really need to manipulate the RAW files. My hope is to take it travelling - using it to view the daily shoots in hotel, backing up the photos onto a portable harddrive, and of course the typical email/web-browsing to stay in touch with the home world. I am very close to buying an Asus Eee Pad Transformer. I transferred RAW images from my pc to my Motorola Xoom (3.1) and everything worked exactly as the description indicated. I just downloaded and tried CR2, which is a new app in the Android marketplace.
